With a tip of our hats we’d like to congratulate Mackenzie, who has been selected as our October “Bartender of the Month.”
Mackenzie’s hometown is right here in Sarasota and she currently bartends at The Beach Club, located, in the Village, at 5151 Ocean Blvd.
Following is a brief, light-hearted Q&A about Mackenzie.
Q: What’s your bartending experience and how long have you worked at The Beach Club? What drink have you perfected?
A: I’ve worked seven years with Above the Bar Hospitality Group, but actually three years with The Beach Club. I have perfected two; the bud light bottle, and a chocolate martini.
Q: What was the strangest or funniest experience you witnessed or were party to at work?
A: In my many years working behind the bar, there are a lot of things that come to mind that I cherish, so it’s hard to pick just one. I have seen it all from crazy dance moves to a fairy photoshoot on a table top, to a girl stuck in the bathroom stall, and a few other things I should probably not repeat.
Q: Any hobbies, goals, etc. you enjoy when not working?
A: Traveling the world and professional roller skating.
Q: How would you describe yourself?
A: Shy, at first, but watch out!
Q: What makes The Beach Club a special place to visit?
A: The Beach Club caters to all age groups with its happy hour, bar games, live music, and of course, dancing!
Q: What specialty drink is The Beach Club noted for?
A: The Beach Club is known for making delicious beach-fruity cocktails.
Q: When is the best time, for locals and visitors, to enjoy your company at The Beach Club?
A: The best time to visit is Wednesday or Friday from noon to 7 p.m. for Happy Hour with me!
