April 2 & 3 at the Asolo Theatre – Amy Herzog’s 4000 Miles 
Previews will be April 2 & 3, opening night will be April 4 at 8pm and the play will run through April 27 at the Historic Asolo Theater.

Asolo Rep continues its season and its celebration of the American family with Amy Herzog’s play 4000 MILES, a 2013 Pulitzer Prize finalist and winner for Best New Play. Directed by Tea Alagić.

April 3 from 8pm to 11pm at the Ringling Museum – Ringling Underground

This series of interactive pop culture features an eclectic mix of local and regional live music. Check out up-and-coming artists displaying their work in the Museum of Art Courtyard. Some galleries will be open so you can meet some of the masters’ late-night.

 April 3 & 4 @ 7pm & April 5th @ 12 & 7 pm Sailor Circus – LEGACY!art7

Performance, Training, Outreach & Legacy are just some of the highlights of the circus today… This year marks its 65th year in our community!  It is the oldest youth circus in America with more than a million spectators attending throughout its history.  The Sailor Circus offers an after school training program for local students that is sure to boost a child’s confidence, discipline, and commitment to achieve goals.

These programs offer training to students from 4th to 12th grades.  For over six decades area volunteers & students create The “Greatest” Little Show on Earth!  This attraction has become one of the most popular events in our area for all ages… Catch a performance of Legacy, now through April 5th.  There will be an Alumni reunion on April 5th at 5pm.

April 5 & 12 at 10 pm at the Bowne’s Lab Theatre (Florida Studio Theatre)

FST improv presents the Spring Series “April Fools” a late night performance full of laughs.  The cast membersart8 will compete against each other for the title ‘Fool of Fools’ and the audience will get to decide the winner!

Florida Studio Theatre was founded in 1973, by Jon Spelman.  It started as a small touring company and traveled to migrant camps and prisons… Later, they moved into a permanent building, named the Keating Theatre.   FST was established as an American theatre, presenting contemporary performances in its five theatre venues: the Keating Theatre, the Goldstein Cabaret, the Gompertz Theatre, the John C. Court Cabaret, and Bowne’s Lab.

Florida Studio Theatre is committed to making the arts accessible to a broad-based audience.  The theatre has changed with the times.  As it grows, it continues with contemporary drama and innovative programs at affordable prices.

April 9 – May 11 at the West Coast Black Theatre Troupe – Bubbling Brown Sugar

A journey back in time to the Harlem Renaissance when audiences flocked to the area’s popular nightclubs to see the greatest talents entertain.  Artists like Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, and Billie Holliday created an age of music with exciting sounds and splendid shows.  You’ll jam to this exciting, three-time, Tony-nominated musical revue.  http://wbttsrq.com/

Nine-time Grammy Award-winner John Legend has built an unbroken chain of Top 10 albums. His most recent project, Wake Up!  A blend of music from the 60’s and 70’s. The album won two Grammy Awards for Best R&B Album and Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance; John starred on ABC, with Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles (of Sugarland) and famed Robin Thicke.  Some of his legendary songs are “Ordinary People,” “Save Room,” “Everybody Knows” and “Stay With You”.
