January 1 & 2 – Resolution Rewind FST Improv in the Bowne’s Lab at the Florida Studio Theatre. 

January 1, 2, 3 – One Man, Two Guvnors – in the Gompertz Theatre at FST. (Later dates are already sold out) Pre-show dining is available in the Green Room. (see link for tickets & times) 

January 2 at 2pm & Jan. 16 at 2pm. Kids Comedy Club in the Bowne’s Lab Theatre at the Florida Studio Theatre. Kids write, rehearse and perform sketch comedy.  Shows are Free.  Reservations are required.  

January 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 – Family Workshop every Saturday from 1:30 to 5pm at the Ringling.   Drop by for a Free Fun Art Project at the Ringling Museum. Ages 4 to 10. 

January 3 at 7pm – Salute to Vienna at the Van Wezel – an uplifting concert with Champion Ballroom Dancers.  

January 4, 5, 6 at 8pm The Buddy Holly Story at the Van Wezel – A Rock n Roll Musical that will have you hopping…

January 6 to April 9 – All The Way at the Asolo.  Political Drama/American History during a time that impacted many.

January 6 to May 1 – Yesterday in the Goldstein Cabaret at the Florida Studio Theatre.

January 7 to 10 – Thunder by the Bay! What an exciting line-up… Sporting Clay Tournament, Kick-off Party at Sarasota Ford, Block Party & Bike Show on Hillview & Downtown Festival on Main St.! 

January 7 to 10 – Sarasota Orchestra presents – Winter Dreams with pianist, Mihkel Poll and director Anu Tali. – Masterworks 3 at Neel PAC – Performing Arts Center at the State College of FL on Thurs 7th, and at the Van Wezel on the 8th, 9th, 10th.

January 8, 10, 13, 15 – Jazz fans take a look at this month’s line-up at varying venues.  Presented by the Jazz Club of Sarasota. 

January 9 – ROAR – Ringling Order of Art Readers – at the Ringling Museum. Ages 4 to 7. Storytime and activity.  Pre-register. 

January 9 & 10 – Fred Moyer Jazz Trio at the Asolo. 

January 12 at 8pm – Black Violin at the Van Wezel – classically trained violin players will entertain you with a blend of classical, hip-hop, rock, R&B, and bluegrass!

January 12 to 31 – Noises Off at the Venice Theatre. Comedy.

Jan 13 at 8pm – Jim Witter – The Piano Man II at the Van Wezel – with the music of Elton John and Billy Joel on into the 80’s you’ll be delighted with this musical journey. 

January 13 to Feb 20 – Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom – West Coast Black Theatre Troupe.

January 13, 14, 15, 16 – Crazy for Classics – Great Escapes 3 Concert at Holly Hall. Featuring Bharat Chandra, principal clarinet, performing Mozart. 

January 13 to February 25 – Living on Love at the Asolo. Romantic Comedy. 

January 16 at 8pm – Air Supply at the Van Wezel. 

January 17 at 7pm – Paul Anka at the Van Wezel – A teen idol in the 50’s, he is credited with over 500 songs! 

January 17 & 18 – Mock the Vote at the Venice Theatre. Comedy.

January 20 & 21 at 8pm – 42nd St. at the Van Wezel – A Musical Comedy Classic. 

January 24 at 7pm – Wynonna & the Big Noise: Stories and Song – see why Judd is a legend in her own time.
